abstract = "Changing the grassland physiognomies ends up causing changes in
the microclimate, which are important to be investigated and
quantified. On this assumption the objective of this study was to
verify how the difference in the use and land cover influence on
regional microclimate from the soil moisture content TVDI,
obtained from the Landsat 8 - OLI. For this purpose we used the
Landsat 8 - OLI product NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation
Index) was calculated, and the surface temperature (TS) by
split-window method, which is based on the use of two bands of the
thermal spectrum. The TVDI (Temperature-Vegetation Dryness Index)
was estimated from the image of TS and NDVI which were related
yielding a pattern of triangular shaped dispersion. Also used up
the rainfall data coming from weather station surface. The results
showed that the TVDI is able to indicate and quantify differences
in water condition that occurs in Rio Grande do Sul, associated
with the TS differences and type of use and land cover. The
highest rates occurred in regions with higher TS and smaller NDVI
in the case, the natural fields. The OLI sensor onboard Landsat 8,
allowed a spatial detail of TVDI compatible with the size of
fields that occur in the region.",
